What do you want to be when you grow up?

When you grow up

Last year I started a new tradition of taking pictures of my kids each year and asking them “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. I always take their picture around their birthdays which are both in November and just wanted another excuse to do something planned at another time in the year. This seemed perfect. Then I could also remember that part of their personality.

My son, Elliot, chose that he wants to be a scientist when he grows up. This is not surprising because he is always asking questions and wanting to know details about things and why they are how they are. He’s always loved to learn more about things.

Adelyn is 3 and has been taking swim lessons and just loves swimming in the water, so she wanted to be a mermaid when she grows up. Luckily we had a family beach trip planned this summer. So I had the perfect setting for the mermaid photos. We had so much fun doing each of these sessions and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
