A very special birthday

When I was contacted to photograph a birthday party/family reunion I had no idea what I was in for. After arriving I realized this wasn’t just a birthday. This was a very special birthday of a very special man. And yes, it was definitely a family reunion.

I stopped by the day before to see the location and hear a little about what they were needing. The party was taking place at their stunning home in their back yard. They had lots of family coming and wanted to make sure to have pictures of the event. I realized quickly that it was going to be a fun event. The few family members I met that day were very kind and excited.

The Party

When I arrived at the home for the party I was amazed by the excitement just as everyone was getting out of their cars. They all seemed so excited to see one another. Everyone was dressed beautifully, smiling, and hugging everyone they saw. As we waited for everyone to be ready I was able to take pictures as everyone greeted and caught up with one another. We went out front and got a large family photo. Everyone was still so happy even though it was still pretty warm outside.

After the large photo, we went back in through the house to the party out back. As things got started the birthday boy sat up front. His friends and family took turns coming up to the mic and sharing kind words about him. I was overwhelmed with the stories and love that was shown. I felt very special to get to spend the evening with a man who seemed so extremely loved by all who knew him. As people spoke they also shared love with other people in the family celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.

There were people of all ages sharing stories, songs, and even a gorgeous dance. It was a beautiful celebration of life. As a photographer, I am so lucky to get to come into events that are so special to people. For a few hours I get to play a small part in something beautiful that I wouldn’t otherwise be a part of. I’m grateful to the Chary family for sharing this special night with me. I hope you enjoy the pictures and this beautiful night through my lens.
