Andrew & Jenna | Proposal Photography | Nashville, TN

Proposal Photography

I have been offering proposal photography for a few years now and I am so happy that I started doing it. It is definitely one of my favorite things to photograph. I find myself shaking with excitement when I know the couple is close and will be close to where I am patiently waiting to start secretly photographing them. It’s so easy to capture wonderful expressions of happiness and surprise. And the moment after it’s over when I walk over and introduce myself and get to hear more about their story is so great.

Andrew got in touch with me from New Jersey to see if I could offer proposal photography for him. He and his fiance, Jenna were coming to Nashville for a trip and he was planning to propose. He said several times that he wasn’t a good planner but he did an amazing job. I think she was genuinely surprised.

Andrew & Jenna

Andrew is a police officer in New Jersey and his girlfriend Jenna is a hairstylist. They met through mutual friends in a totally unplanned instance. They immediately fell in love and have been dating for around 5 years now. They have recently bought their first home and adopted a cat named Trig. They travel a lot and this was their first trip to Nashville, TN. They had planned a trip previously but had to cancel due to Covid. I hope Nashville lived up to all they had been imagining.

My husband typically comes with me when I photograph a proposal in Nashville. The two of us were on the bridge and had found the best light for the proposal. We saw Jenna and Andrew coming up and when they got almost to us we noticed Jenna was stopping and he seemed to be trying to convince her to come along. Turns out she gets nervous on bridges and we were unaware of that little fact.

The Proposal

When they got closer to us Jenna actually got my attention and asked me to take a picture of the two of them with her cell phone. I said “sure, I’ll take your picture” and grabbed her phone for a shot, laughing to myself that she didn’t realize just how many pictures I’d be taking of her that day. I barely got turned back around when Andrew hit one knee and proposed. She seemed so surprised.

It was a super hot day in Nashville. We were under a heat advisory with a heat index of 107. Luckily there was a great breeze coming off the water so the bridge wasn’t so bad. And these two did a great job of holding up in the southern heat. I really enjoyed getting to spend a bit of time getting to know them both. Congratulations on your engagement!!!
