I always love working with the Pedde family doing their kid session in front of the chapel at the University of Memphis, Lambuth. I’ve taken all of the girl’s pictures in the same dress at the same age in front of the chapel where their grandparents got married. Lambuth has a lot of sentimental value for me and my family too so it’s always a pleasure going back there for sessions.
I’ve known Caroline’s mom for a long time. We worked together at summer camp and became close friends. At least once a year when she is visiting for work we plan to get together for dinner and spend hours talking. Do you know those old friends that you could talk to for hours no matter how long it’s been since you saw each other? That’s us. So in our all-night discussion, it came up that we needed to schedule a session for her youngest to get her pictures done.
It’s July in the south. That means super hot and sticky humidity. We were under a heat advisory. But we were running low on time. Luckily we had a day with no rain and beautiful light. We had fans and cold towels and trekked our way around campus. Caroline was a trooper and didn’t worry to much with the heat. Things go so much quicker when your subject smiles on cue. We even snuck mom in for a few shots. I’m so grateful to families that continue to call me when they need portraits done and it’s always a pleasure spending time with this family.
