What are the pros and cons of a first look?

First Looks First looks are getting more and more popular but I know that there are still lots of bride and grooms that are trying to decide if it’s really what they want. We grew up with the vision of the bride walking down the aisle and that being the very first time he...

    Family Spring Break in Oregon

Family Spring break in Oregon A couple of years ago my big brother moved to Oregon. I have already visited him once and it’s such an amazing place. There are oceans, mountains, waterfalls and just totally gorgeous scenery pretty much everywhere you go. I’m going to be an aunt soon so we decided that before...

When should you eat at your wedding??

When should you eat I know I know it seems really strange that you might need advice on things like when should you eat. After all, you are a grown person and you have been eating all your life. But you will be amazed at how many brides and grooms leave their wedding and haven’t eaten...

Montessori Fest | Community Montessori Jackson TN

Montessori Fest 2016 This year is our first year to have a child in school and it’s been a real learning experience. Being a parent of a kindergartener is a year of learning for the parents just as much as it is for the kids. We have loved that we get to start this learning...

          Snow is gorgeous but….

I know, I know we finally got the snow everyone has been hoping for. I love how pretty it is and to get out one good time and play in it. But after a couple of days, my mind just starts drifting to the beach and the sun. I mean, check out this Navarre Beach...

Farewell to Hallmark Institute of Photography

Hallmark Institute of Photography Last week I took a quick trip to Greenfield Massachusetts. The timing was perfect because the beautiful fall leaves hung around just long enough for me to get to enjoy them. And then oddly enough it snowed, which was a great surprise for this southern girl. Greenfield is a special place...

Oh, Thank You for this tribute to Hallmark Institute. I also attended the school building that eventually became the admin. building. I have a theory that the reason why there were only 10 students in the last class was because Premiere Corporation no longer employed a recuitement staff. And the cost had become quite high, but the facility was clearly World Class and naturally the overhead must have been incredible. Coming right out of High School and attending Hallmark because it seemed like “taking pictures” for a living would be fun was a mistake for many of my fellow students. I however had been hooked on photography since my early teens and perhaps that is why still, to this day, I have a career in photographic portraiture. Priceless are the friendships made during my time at Hallmark. I still get a knot in my stomach because the grounds of Hallmark Institute are to me, hallowed grounds. I will forever miss the Hallmark of the past. ReplyCancel

I went to this school as well and didn’t have this fondness. I went straight out of high school and was so excited, I had to move to a new state though with people i didn’t know to live with. The first few weeks were great but then things took a turn, turns out my roommates were crazy they stole from me, money food you name it. They left me for weeks at a time knowing i had no car and hardly knew anyone. And yes I told the school what was happening but nothing was being done. The school was stressful and going home on the nights I could was no better. The last straw was when my equipment was stolen from the house i lived at, and you know if you went there no equipment no school. I was told it was time for me to leave even though my roommates had made my life a living hell and the school did Nothing about it. When i heard the school was closing i thought it was great cause if other students were subjected to the same treatment i was then they deserved to be closed down. I went on to go to school in veterinary medicine and have 2 degrees, and i can tell you those classes were not nearly as stressful as hallmark….all we were was taking photos it didn’t have to be so damn bad, the memories from my time at hallmark are not very sunny ones, but i am glad others had better experiences.  ReplyCancel
