Cypress Barn at Miller Lake | Savannah & Tyler

Cypress Barn at Miller Lake
Savannah and Tyler had a special wedding at Cypress Barn at Miller Lake. It was my first time and this venue, and I was so excited to see the outdoor space. The outdoor pictures I’ve seen are gorgeous. This venue is off the beaten path and worth the trip.
Savannah & Tyler
Savannah and Tyler were set up by friends, and that’s what led us to this romantic day. According to Savannah, when you’re the new, single teacher, everybody likes to play matchmaker. They were introduced through friends, and the rest is history. A few Tennessee ball games, concerts, 2020 car dates, and classroom set-ups later, led them to this day.
The next big step happened a little later. Tyler took Savannah out for their normal Saturday. Lunch at their favorite restaurant, Chuy’s, and a quick trip to Target. After driving around Franklin, they ended up at Radnor Lake, where he took her walking down a trail where they stopped at a lake and he proposed. They finished the day by coming back to her house, where family and close friends were there to celebrate.
The Big Day
These big moments all lead up to the big day. When I arrived at the venue, it had been steadily raining for hours. The forecast wasn’t looking very sunny, and the ground was soaked. I’ve seen enough weddings to know that there’s no truth to good luck and bad luck in the weather. As a photographer, I also know you can get some stunning pictures, rain or shine.
We had some special moments with a first look with the bridesmaids and a first look with the father of the bride. Then it was the groom’s turn. The rain was still steady so we made our way outside for a little bit of privacy. Luckily, the front entrance has an awnin,g so we were able to stay out of the rain. I always feel so special to get to be there during the first look between the bride and groom. It does feel like being a fly on the wall in a huge moment in someone’s life.
Another amazing thing about Cypress Barn at Miller Lake is the thickness of the tree cover. It did an amazing job of helping us to still be outside in the gorgeous trees, but keep the wedding party from getting wet. Even the sweet little ones were real troopers in the rainy weather. Then we were also able to find some stunning spots to photograph the bride and groom.
The Wedding
I know this is going to sound like an exaggerated story or even a lie, but literally 10 minutes before ceremony time, the rain stopped. The chairs, decorations and flowers were all able to be put out just in time for the guests to take their seats. It was so special. After a sweet ceremony everyone headed up to the barn for the reception. Dinner, first dances and cake cutting all flew by and then we all stepped outside to gorgeous weather and an amazing sunset.
We were able to wander around the property and get some beautiful pictures as the sun came out and the sky was perfect. Everyone had fun dancing and then it was time for the exit. As all the guests lined up for the glow stick exit and the sky turned pink Savannah and Tyler had their end of the night dance. It was a perfect end to a truly special wedding day.
