Before I went to school when I got my first professional camera I was on the lookout for people to photograph. A close friend of mine baby sat for two adorable little kids and told me she could ask permission and get them for me to take pictures of one afternoon. So I took pictures of a cute little boy in a cowboy hat and his sweet blonde curly headed sister. Over the years my path has crossed with Will and Claire many other times. My husband worked with the youth group at their church for years. I’ve seen them in several places and of course I’m now facebook friends with them so it’s a wonderful way to keep up with what is happening in their lives.
UTM Proposal
I was really excited to get the call from Garrett, Claire’s boyfriend, telling me he was planning to propose and was in need of a photographer to come for the proposal. I’m so happy that Claire’s mom sent him my way. I met with Garrett the week before the big day and we walked around the campus of UTM trying to find the perfect spot. We found a gorgeous tree that had started to change colors and decided it would work perfectly. He planned to blindfold Claire so I didn’t even have to find a good spot to hide from her.
So the day arrived and they went to eat and then he blindfolded her and brought her to campus. Their friends and family had come ahead and decorated a spot by the tree and hung a window from a branch that Garrett had written “Will You Marry Me” on. Claire’s expression was perfect when he pulled off the blind fold and she saw the window. When she turned around he was down on one knee. She said “yes”!
Their friends and family came out of a nearby building and shared in their big moment. Turns out Garrett and Claire had met by being set up on a blind date and even the friend that sent them on their first date was there for the proposal. It was a really special day and I feel special to have gotten to be there. Congratulations you two!
