The Memphis Botanic Gardens is always a beautiful spot for portraits. But the day that we scheduled Garth & Tricia session was perfect. The sun was out and glimmering through the trees. It wasn’t too hot and the wind was the perfect temperature. There was a field trip and event going on at the Gardens that day so they led us out the side door to start our session.
Engagement sessions are always slightly awkward to start because there are few people who are comfortable posing in front of a camera. But things quickly picked up and we found some really great spots. As I guided them into a few poses they became naturals. In the random discussion about a school field trip going on there, we figured out that Garth had been friends with my husband, Adam in elementary school. It’s so crazy when things like that happen. Also, the fact that if there had not been a field trip there that day the name of the school may have never come up and we’d have never known the connection we had.
There were very few people around as we made our way around the paths to all the different gardens. So we didn’t have to do any maneuvering to keep others out of the pictures. I got caught up on the story of how Garth proposed and how he almost proposed before that but changed his mind about the setting. It always amazes me that guys can hold onto a ring and not immediately propose. I would be so bad at that. I really enjoyed getting to know these two and can’t wait for the wedding.
