Jody and Hans | Engagement Session | Lake Graham

Jody and Hans recently reached out to me about an engagement session, and I was so excited to work with them! I’m always incredibly thankful when people I’ve never met find me online, connect with my work, and decide to trust me with such a special part of their story.

After browsing through some of my past sessions, Jody chose Lake Graham in Jackson, TN, as the location for their shoot. It’s a quiet, scenic lake tucked away off the back roads—mostly known as a fishing spot, but I’ve discovered a few hidden gems perfect for photos. That said, Lake Graham can be a bit unpredictable! Some of my favorite areas are occasionally inaccessible—probably due to fluctuating water levels—so it always keeps me on my toes. But that just means I get to stay creative and flexible, which is all part of the fun.

This session was also my first time meeting Jody and Hans, which always brings a little bit of nervous excitement. What made their story even more interesting is that they actually live in Alaska and were visiting Tennessee. I loved hearing about life up north, especially how they adapt to the dramatic changes in daylight. Long days, long nights… I’m fascinated by it all!

It was such a pleasure spending time with this sweet couple, capturing their connection, and chatting about life in two very different parts of the country. Jody and Hans, thank you for choosing me to be part of this season. Congratulations on your engagement—I’m so happy for you both!
