One year smash cake session | William | Oakland TN

This week was little William’s one year smash cake session. I have known his mom since I was in high school. Her older brother and I were good friends in school and then she went on to go to college with my husband. She and I went on trips together and saw each other a lot back then.

As usual, when people grow up and start families it’s just not as easy to get together. And Covid has made that even more impossible. So I was so excited when she called me to come to their home and photograph her sweet little boy for his one year smash cake session.

They decided to do William’s one year session in their home in Oakland TN. I drove to see their home and meet their little boy for the first time. I was so excited after watching him grow on social media to actually get to meet him.

William was very confused to find this strange lady in his home when he woke up from his nap. It was entertaining to watch his parents try all the things that make him laugh. But he kept a straight face as much as he could. I would catch him cutting his eyes at me to see what I was going to do.

Luckily he just couldn’t help himself several times during our session and gave us a sweet little smirk. When we brought out the cake he kept trying to smear it on his mom and dad. He wasn’t quite sure what to think about it.
