Wedding in Stantonville, TN

This weekend Rob & Emily had a gorgeous wedding in Stantonville TN. The weather was perfect and the trees were just the right shades of yellow, green and orange. If it had been anyone else to tell me they were going to get married in the dark under twinkle lights I may have tried to change their minds. But Rob had a vision and I’m so glad Emily was on board to see what would turn into.

Rob & Emily

Rob & Emily met through a mutual friend. She was Emily’s internship supervisor and Rob’s friend. The two of them met for dinner one night with her and her husband and from then on they hung out in the same friend group. The two of them became very close friends and spent a lot of time together. Time passed and Emily waited patiently for Rob to realize they should be together. And boy am I glad he did. I’ve known Rob since we were kids and I knew pretty quickly that Emily was a great fit. I’m so happy they found each other.

Rob had his proposal all planned out. The two went on a hike to Lady’s Bluff one evening. Rob had timed it out so that they would reach a certain point at sunset. He started hiking up ahead of her which probably seemed odd until she reached the point and saw him down on one knee. Then he asked her to marry him. She was sweaty and winded and had to ask him to hold on a minute. She took off her jacket, put her hands on her hips and took a deep breath and then said “yes”. Luckily Rob remembered to bring a headlamp for the hike back down to the truck in the dark.

The Wedding

Rob also had a plan for the wedding. He had it all pictured at night time with twinkle lights all above them. They chose to have the wedding in Stantonville TN at her Emily’s dad’s place. It was absolutely gorgeous. Rob had built a structure for the lights and it was set up in the front yard for the ceremony. All the pathways were lined with jars with little strings of lights in them hung on shepherd’s hooks. And around back around the pool they had the reception set up with twinkle lights everywhere.

Emily looked absolutely stunning in her dress and I’ve never seen anything sparkle so much as her dress did under those lights. Her sister helped her get ready and then the Lamb women came to help pin something in her dress and see how she was doing. After a few tears and smiles it was time for her to see her dad. Emily and her dad both got teary-eyed at their first look when she read her letter to him.

I will have to say that when you see the pictures of Emily & Rob’s first look you will see the most hilarious first look images I’ve ever taken. His initial smile when he sees her is in the first picture and then the second picture completely encaptures his goofy personality. Rob’s dad was the officiant at their wedding and in true Lamb fashion it was heartfelt and funny. Being in that tent of twinkle lights was really magical.

Reception

Everyone headed to the back along a jar-lit path to the reception. The food and donuts were amazing but the best part was the first dance. The song started and like most first dance songs I kept thinking, man the bride did a great job picking a song that fit them well. And then I realized this song was very specific and accurate. Emily had had someone write a song with their love story in it. It was so sweet and special. I’m so happy for you both and am so honored to have gotten to be a part of such a wonderful day.
