Traditions
Part of what I love about being a photographer is helping to capture moments in time. So it’s always fun when a family has a tradition of certain pictures they make. Hugo’s mom has a tradition in her family of having pictures made sitting in a dishpan. They are always on a porch around the time of their six month session.
This tradition goes back to Hugo’s grandfather. I’ve gotten to take his sibling’s dishpan pictures and even a couple of his cousins. I’ve known his parents for a long time now. I love spending time with this family. I was excited to get to see them a bit during this pandemic even if it is just for a short while to take pictures.
Six Month Session
For Hugo’s session, he also got to wear an adorable jacket that belonged to his grandfather. It has an H on it for the town his grandfather was in when he was small. It fit perfectly for Hugo since that is his initial.
The last couple of weeks have gotten very cold. But we got lucky and had a day in the 50s with no wind at all. This isn’t the first Simpson baby we have had to do a dishpan photo of in the winter though. So with a warm sack in his dishpan and a heater right beside him you never would have known it was winter.
I think it’s so neat that they have pictures of three generations around the same age doing similar things. It makes it easier to compare who looks alike as a baby. Hugo is a great mix of his siblings. But honestly, I see a ton of one of his uncles in that sweet little face.
