St. Mary’s & Samuel T Bryant Distillery Wedding | Alex & Landon

Alex & Landon

Alex and Landon had a beautiful wedding at St. Mary’s & Samuel T Bryant Distillery. Despite the fact that the weather had been super cold and rainy the weeks leading up to the big day, the wedding day was gorgeous. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let me tell you a little bit about these two.

How it started

Alex and Landon met in the fall of 2017. They were both in a business ethics night class at Union University. Landon was in her first semester of the Masters of Accounting and Alex was in his last semester of the MBA. He sat two rows in front of her. He spoke to her a couple of times throughout the class, but the encounters were short. About a week after the class ended he sent her a friend request on Facebook and she accepted it. About a week after that he messaged her on Facebook and asked her how she did on the final paper for that business ethics class. Then they started talking about other stuff and a few days later he asked her on a lunch date to Rock ‘n Dough Pizza.

The Proposal

The weekend he proposed they were spending the weekend in Nashville to celebrate Valentine’s Day. On that Sunday they went to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. This is something they do every time they go to Nashville. There is a special fountain there in the atrium area that they always throw pennies into and make a wish (they did this on one of their first dates). When they got there they walked around for a few minutes then went over to the fountain. There were a couple of people standing nearby and Landon wanted to go over and throw their coins in as usual. Alex didn’t want to go over there at first. He said, “no let’s wait till the people leave”. So she said ok and they went and sat down on a bench.

When the people left they went over and Alex pulled several pennies out of his pocket. He gave her one form 1994, the year she was born, and told her to throw it in and think of something from the past that she cherished. He had one from 1989, the year he was born and he did the same. Then he gave her a penny from 2017, the year they met, and told her to make a wish and throw it in. Then they did the same for 2018.

She said yes

When they had thrown them in for 2018 Landon asked him what his wish was and he said: “you tell me yours first”. She said that she wished that one day they would get married and live happily ever after. She then asked him what he wished for, then he said: “he wished he had talked to her parents about them getting married in 2018.” I said don’t worry you will do it this year and as she was turning to start walking he pulled her back in and whispered, “I already did.” Then he got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry him!

As I said earlier, the weather was beautiful on the wedding day. Landon’s dress was so gorgeous. It had sleeves and beautiful lace. The veil was long and stretched out past her dress. She could not have looked more elegant. The pillow that was carried by the ring bearer was made from Landon’s grandmother’s wedding dress. The men wore blue suits with ties that matched the bridesmaid’s maroon dresses.

The wedding was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jackson TN. It has beautiful stained glass and tall ceilings. Landon & Alex had the first look outside and then we enjoyed the sunshine and did all of the portraits outside. The sun was perfect and streaming through the leaves.

Once the ceremony ended everyone headed over to Samuel T Bryant Distillery for the reception. It was a fun night. I really enjoyed watching the kids and family all dance together. It was a perfect day. Congratulations to Landon & Alex!!!
