Last week I met two year old Liam and his grandmother. She wanted some portraits of him for his two year old birthday. It’s always interesting meeting a new small child for pictures. They don’t know me so they are very hesitant at first. Wondering who this strange person is that is coming in giving them so much attention and talking to them like they know them. There’s also the fact that most of the time you take them somewhere they aren’t used to going to or have never been to.

They spend most of the beginning of the session looking around. Checking out the place. Sometimes they even get worried that their parent or grandparent is leaving them with me. So they cling on even tighter. Liam’s grandmother had a great idea to do it at her gorgeous home where he is comfortable.

We started his session by him walking us to the pond and showing me the giant fish that swims around on the top of the water. I was pretty intrigued because it was unlike any fish I’d ever seen. The fish was very large and swam on top of the water with only it’s fins sticking out. It looked kind of prehistoric to me. I kept my distance from Liam asking him questions and hoping to get a little trust and some smiles.

He did a great job and even started showing me his toys. My job is so wonderful and helps me to meet new people and get to see into their world a bit.
