The University of Memphis Lambuth
This is my recent portrait at The University of Memphis Lambuth with the Ragon family. Growing up I went to a summer camp called Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly. I fell in love with the place and my brother and I went every summer. We were campers for years and went on to volunteer counsel in the summers. After that, we both became summer staff. Both my brother and I have met some of our closest friends and our spouses while working at Lakeshore.

I met Katie while we both worked at Lakeshore. There’s something about that place that in just a week you can find someone you will be close to for life. Recently Katie, her parents, siblings, and their families decided they needed to have their pictures made together. I think portraits are so important to hold on to a moment and keep hold of memories from a certain time in your life.
No matter where people and family go, they are always important and always loved. It’s so special to have a picture that holds all the people in a group or a family. You can always look back and see the kids and what they looked like at that point and also remember the day you all spent together. I know not everyone loves the stress of getting dressed and trying to get your kids to nap so they won’t be cranky. Trying to get everyone to cooperate and smile and stay in one place. But when it comes down to it those things aren’t that important. It’s recording the moment and the people you love.
We had an unusually warm fall day but these guys were real troopers. It was great spending a bit of time with these guys.
