Lambuth “courthouse” wedding
This Lambuth “courthouse” wedding was very interesting. Vanessa and Logan were planning to get married at the courthouse this week and things ended up a bit different than they had pictured. We met up ahead of time at the University of Memphis Lambuth campus and did a quick portrait session of them. I could tell they were both excited and it was a gorgeous day.

I had reached out to Vanessa earlier and asked a few questions about them to get to know more about them as a couple. They are both from Houston Texas. They met when they were seniors in high school and went bowling with friends. After high school, they both moved to a small town called Parsons, KS. Logan was playing baseball and Vanessa was in school. After receiving their associate’s degrees they moved to Jackson. Vanessa is working full time in Jackson while Logan plays baseball for Union University.
The ceremony
I was a little curious when Vanessa told me that the wedding had been moved. It changed from the courthouse to the officiant’s home. When we met up for portraits I asked her if they knew the officiant and what had made them change location. It turns out the courthouse told them that they would hear from the officiant of their wedding closer to the date. So when he called he told them he had just had surgery and could they do it at his home. It was a strange turn of events but it turned out to be really neat.
When we arrived at his home it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. He was very experienced in performing ceremonies and had lots of touching stories to share with the couple. Vanessa and Logan had some family there to share in the moment and it was such a sweet ceremony. I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. Congratulations you two!! I wish you many years of happiness.
