It’s pretty typical that a wedding day doesn’t go just exactly as you plan for it to. I guess most things in life don’t really go according to plan. So it’s always great that in any situation you have the support of friends and family and you have a plan B.

Bring on the rain

I heard many times this weekend, “These two have been waiting for this for a long time”. I met with Kristen a couple of weeks before the wedding to talk about the details and see what they had planned. For some reason, in our little area of the world, there have been a lot of random thunderstorms coming around. And that’s just not what you want when you are planning a wedding in your backyard.

Kristen & Brandon have a gorgeous home and backyard with a pool. The plan was to set up an arbor and get married on the back patio near the pool. As I was driving to their home on Saturday I could see only large black clouds up ahead of me. So of course, once I arrived and carried in my things, the rain started.

The Ceremony

Kristen and I had discussed an option to bring the wedding inside in case of rain and it was looking like that might be what we’d be doing. Their home is beautiful and their friends were helpful and so happy for them so it didn’t matter if we were inside or outside. You could tell from the smile on Kristen’s face during the ceremony that getting married to Brandon among their friends and family was all she really needed at the end of that day.

We were able to do some of their portraits under the cover of the back porch and move everything inside for the ceremony. It was a sweet service and after we moved on to cake and toasts. I always feel like I’ve been let in on something so intimate when I get to be part of these small weddings with just their favorite people.

I’m so excited for Kristen & Brandon and their family and wish them so much luck and happiness in the future.
