I was so excited to get to photograph a New Year’s Eve proposal. When Brendan got in touch with me and told me that he, Brenna, and their friends were going on a trip for New Year I thought it was a perfect time for a proposal. In the week leading up to the proposal, we were worried about the weather but it ended up being fine.
Brendan & Brenna
Brendan & Brenna’s love story is the furthest thing from traditional. He had only known Brenna because he was friends with her brothers. All 3 of them are some of his closest friends and obviously dating her or anything like that was never in the plans when they met. However, the brother that he had known the longest, JJ and Brendan were living together at the time that he went through a recent breakup. They chatted about what Brendan was actually looking for in a significant other. Oddly enough, his sister (Brenna) had always told him what she was looking for and he had a moment of “heck why not” and suggested they go on a date.
Her brother knew that Brendan would treat his sister right, and it wouldn’t be weird as we all hung out as a friend group anyway. Well, he was right, they went on a dinner date and then began hanging out periodically until they found themselves making plans on a weekly basis. This eventually led to a spontaneous weekend trip to Toronto where Brendan asked Brenna to be his girlfriend after they had hung out for about 4 months straight. Whether it be with some of their closest friends or just the two of them, it just felt right.
Fast forward 3 years later and they own a house together and two fur-babies. Blitz and Koda are their two German Shepherd puppies who are a little over a year old. They love bringing them to local breweries on the weekend to get out of the house.
The Proposal
The weather was a bit cloudy but it was such a nice warm day to be December. The Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville was full of excited people ready to celebrate the new year. Brenna & Brendan came onto the bridge with all of their friends. We spotted them just in time amongst all the people. Brendan acted as though he wanted on of their friends to take a picture of them and took that as his chance to drop to one knee.
I love the images of Brenna’s smile and excitement as it all happened. It was such a fun New Year’s Eve proposal. I hope the rest of their time in Nashville was amazing. It was so great meeting you all and such a wonderful way to to spend my last session of the year!
