St Luke’s Episcopal Church | Tricia & Garth | Jackson TN

This past weekend I was so excited to be headed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jackson TN for Tricia and Garth’s wedding. Not too long ago I met Tricia and Garth in Memphis for their engagement session at The Memphis Botanic Garden. It was an enjoyable day walking around and hearing more about the two of them. We found we even had some connections to each other. After our day together I had no doubt their wedding day would be a great one.

Tricia & Garth met through work and finally went out one night when Tricia’s mom had to cancel on her and Garth stepped up and offered his company. After dating Garth proposed one day when they were visiting The Memphis Botanic Garden. So of course that made it the perfect spot for their engagement session.

Fast forward and here we are ready for the wedding. It’s springtime in Tennessee so of course the weather has been humid one minute and frigid the next. But the day of the wedding was perfect. It was such a fun day of meeting the wedding party and the family I hadn’t met yet. The first look was so sweet. They read letters they had written each other and both cried and laughed together. It was such a special moment to get to peek into.

The ceremony started in this beautiful old church and it was joyful and special. Tricia & Garth had such a unique wedding party. It was obvious that they were all close to one another and that everyone really cared about the couple. Once they were finally married the two grabbed one another just outside the sanctuary doors and held on with excitement and kissed again. They hopped into the limo and headed to the Country Club for their party.

The dancing at the reception was fantastic. Garth & Tricia had such a fun first dance and I swear every person in the room got out and danced at one point or another. The music was great and made it hard not to dance. I have had lots of sweets and cake in my life but I must agree with Garth that their wedding cake was one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten. It was a wonderful night and I’m so grateful to have shared it with them.

Spring Mini Sessions 2024 | Tracye Pulliam, Photography & Weddings

Another wonderful Mini Session in the books. Spring Mini Sessions 2024 was at the West Tennessee Agrisearch and Education Center in Jackson TN. I love using it for spring mini sessions because they always have such gorgeous flowers and trees this time of year. There are so many colors and sweet floral smells in the air. Spring minis tend to be tricky because the weather is always changing. One year I had to change the date due to rain 3 different times. This year we got so lucky. It was not only dry but completely gorgeous.

For mini sessions I typically get a mix of my amazing regulars that come to me everytime they need new portraits and new people trying out my photography for the first time. This year it was all my regular favorites. It was a fun day of catching up with friends and photographing their ever growing children. It was a great day to be out all day playing at the Ag Center. I just love the days when it’s not too hot or too cold and it’s sunny and breezy.

I’m so grateful that Jackson has fun areas like the Ag Center for us to use for portraits. It never fails to be beautiful and the perfect spot for spring photos.

Tabitha and Cody | Intimate Wedding in Greenfield TN

This weekend I traveled over to Greenfield TN. Tabitha and Cody reached out to me looking for someone to come photograph their very intimate wedding at their church. It was just going to be immediate family and a couple of friends. It was a gorgeous spring day and a great day for a wedding.

I pulled into the church just as several other cars were arriving. As I started to grab my equipment I saw a beautiful bride that I knew had to be Tabitha heading into the church. I walked in to meet her family and her little girl. Tabitha and Cody have two little ones with the most gorgeous head of curls you’ve ever seen. As I met Tabitha and Cody I noticed that both of them were smiling most of the time. They both seemed so excited for this wedding.

While I was photographing this wedding where they had chosen only to invite their closest people something funny ran through my mind. As a kid when I was asked what superpower I would want I thought it would be so cool to be invisible. To get to experience being somewhere where you could see how people would act when you weren’t there. It crossed my mind that I kind of get to do that as a photographer. I can stand off and record emotions and special moments without others paying attention to me. It’s so fun to get to share in these moments that I don’t particularly belong to.

All their family gathered in the sanctuary for the service and Tabitha and her dad entered the room. Everyone in the room was so excited for these two. I’m so glad I was asked to come and capture this sweet moment of them becoming husband and wife. Congratulations you two and I wish you many years of love and happiness. Enjoy the marriage retreat!!

Kristina & Shannon | Engagement Session | Jackson TN

Spring has been such a crazy time around my house. We’ve had many unexpected things happen to throw me off my comfortably planned calendar. And of course, photography has picked up tremendously due to the gorgeous weather. I was so glad to get to meet Kristina & Shannon finally at their engagement session. These two have also had their share of unexpected and inconvenient things pop up on their calendar so I was glad we were able to get their session in.

Kristina & Shannon had their session on a day that was sunny and beautiful but still quite cold. The wind had a chill to it that made me think someone had left the fridge open. We chose to do their session at the West Tennessee Agresearch Center in Jackson TN. I loved hearing all about these two and their story together. It’s always fun to hear the different ways in which people meet and connect. I also never know what to expect when it comes to the different types of chemistry people may have during our session.

These two told me up front that they were awkward in front of the camera. I think they both felt I may have my work cut out for me when photographing them. But it’s always so interesting to me what people consider to be bad or what would make bad pictures. I found that every time these two looked at each other they couldn’t help but make silly faces or bust out laughing. And to me, that is wonderful. I just love a picture that shows emotion and happiness and laughter are two great ones. I have no doubt that the wedding will have lots of gorgeous images of these two smiling sincerely at one another.

Baby Wright | Bells TN | Home Newborn Session

I was SO happy to hear from the Comb’s family. They reached out to me to come to their home and photograph their newborn baby Wright. I first met The Comb’s at a family member’s wedding that I photographed. You have no idea how good it feels to work with a family at a wedding and after the day together they decide they want you to photograph them again. I was lucky enough to come to their home and photograph their first little boy’s newborn session soon after the wedding and then family pictures again a couple of years later.

It’s so wild that the day I went to do baby Wright’s newborn session, we were under a wind advisory. When I pulled up to unload my car I remembered that when we did their first newborn session the area was also under a wind advisory. I remember unloading the car at their home in really strong winds. What are the odds??

Sweet baby Wright was so precious. He did need several breaks for food because he is very busy growing. Mom and Dad were very patient with me needing to be in their home for so long while we waited patiently through baby Wright’s snack breaks. Big brother hung in there for a good while but then fell asleep while he waited his turn. He was so sweet and had lots of fun questions for me.

It was so great meeting their new addition and I hope to get to catch up with them again in a few more years. Congratulations on your growing family!!

The Woodruff Fontaine House, Memphis TN | Amy & Liam

            The Woodruff Fontaine House

I’ve loved old historic homes for a long time. There’s something about standing in the same room many people have been in at different periods of time. When a building is kept up or restored to what it originally was and you can catch a glimpse into the past. I always wonder what the original owners would think to see the place now. Seeing how much everything around it has changed. The Woodruff Fontaine House is a great example of that.

The Woodruff Fontaine House in Memphis TN now has a museum run out of it. It was built in 1871 and is absolutely amazing. They have furniture from the period and clothing and things sitting all around. It really feels as though you’ve stepped back in time as you walk through the halls and up the gorgeous staircase. There are several buildings on the property and just behind the house is the Carriage House. It’s the original structure but is fixed up to be the perfect spot for a small event.

            Amy

This will be a fairly different type of post from me considering this wedding celebration was my sister-in-law and her new husband. Amy is really a no fuss type of girl. I met Amy when I started dating my husband 21 years ago. She was a good bit younger than me and I got to be her camp counselor for a week and get to know her better. I’ve always admired how Amy can be a part of a group of girls but never be pulled into the drama that girls tend to muster up. I’ve watched her grow up and play soccer and go to an insane amount of schooling to be able to do what she is passionate about. She does the type of job that it takes a special kind of human to be able to have the patience for and the intelligence to do well.

            Amy & Liam

Over time I’ve met Amy’s friends and boyfriends. We’ve seen such a great fit and balance between her and Liam. He’s interesting and odd in all the best ways just like Amy. He brought along his son Joseph and my kids have loved having another cousin to play with. At this point, it feels as though the two of them have always been a part of the family. So when Amy and Liam shocked us all by finally deciding it was time to get married we couldn’t be happier.

As much as neither of them like being the center of attention they let us have a wedding reception. I think everyone involved was thrilled to finally get to celebrate them and make it official. We now have Uncle Liam and cousin Joseph in the family. What more could we ask for?? It was fun getting to spend the time together planning and the reception was just a wonderful day. It was great catching up with Amy’s friends and meeting Liam’s wonderful family that was able to come from Australia. The setting of the Woodruff Fontaine House was perfect for Amy & Liam. As you can see their wedding style is a little different from most. It was beautiful and elegant and absolutely perfect. Congratulations you two!! We love all three of you and are so happy for you.
